I first tried za’atar seasoning this summer and I was blown away by how tasty it was!
I’ve really ventured out of my comfort zone with my cuisine over the last year, but new foods still make me a little nervous.
But I could not have been more pleased with these za’atar tofu bites (yes, tofu!).
The original recipe grilled the bites, but I decided to opt for the air fryer for a quicker, easier meal.
This air fryer za’atar tofu bites recipe works because it’s:

Step-By-Step Instructions
Wrap 14 ounces of extra firm tofu in paper towels and press with a tofu press or a cast iron pan. Allow to drain for 10-30 minutes.
Mix 2 Tablespoons za’atar seasoning, 2 Tablespoons of nutritional yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt on a shallow plate.
Once the tofu has been pressed, cut it into bite-sized pieces (I got 40 bites).
Place 6 pieces of tofu on the plate and turn to make sure each side gets coated. Repeat with remaining tofu. (You may need to make more seasoning if all of it gets used up.)
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees.
Add half of the bites to the air fryer basket and give them a quick spray of avocado oil. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove the basket, give it a good shake, and return for an additional 5 minutes or until the bites are nice and crispy.
Serve with desired sides.
