Air Fryer English Muffin Pizzas are the ultimate kid food; a mini version of their favorite dish! Here’s how to make English muffin pizzas in the air fryer so they don’t get soggy.
My kiddos love English muffin pizzas! They ask for them several times a month.
And I have no problem adding them to my weekly meal plan because they are so easy and cheap to make. The best part is, they are fully customizable; everyone gets the kind of pizza they want!
The trick to making English muffin pizzas your kids will love is to let them help! Ask them for topping suggestions and pull out a stool so they can assemble their own pizzas. They’ll enjoy them that much more knowing they made it themselves.
The topping ideas are endless. Check out a few of my suggestions below for some themed English muffin pizzas.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Separate each muffin (original, multigrain or whole wheat) with your hands or a knife. Arrange 4 halves in the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees for 3-4 minutes until lightly browned.
Prepare your desired sauce (canned pasta sauce, marinara, barbeque, alfredo, salsa, etc.), meats, cheeses, and the other toppings you plan to use on the pizzas.
Once the English muffins are toasted, add a small amount of sauce and spread it around with a spoon. A little goes a long way if you don’t want it to be soggy!
Top with cheese (parmesan, Colby jack, a Mexican blend, or even feta if you want a greek-style pizza), meat, and veggies and place the pizzas back in the air fryer.
Cook at 400 degrees for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the English muffin edges are crispy.
Recipe Tips and Substitutions
Since only 4 English muffins can fit in the air fryer at a time, you can toast the remaining muffins in a toaster or the oven to save time.
However, you’ll definitely want your English muffin pizzas to cook in the air fryer with all of their toppings because they’ll get perfectly melty and delicious in there!

FAQ’s
Samuel Bath Thomas can be credited for creating the English muffin back in the 1800s. These muffins were originally called a toaster crumpet and became known as English muffins in 1894.
We don’t know who first had the idea to turn these muffins into pizzas, but I’m sure glad they did!
While I was researching to write this post, I found several questions asking how to keep an English muffin pizza from not turning soggy.
It’s a valid question because our pizzas often turn soggy after a few minutes out of the oven.
And I hate to say it, but I’ve never tried to figure out how to reverse the sogginess even after all of the times I’ve made these mini pizzas on English muffins.
So here’s the trick: You have to toast the English muffin before you put on the sauce and toppings!
You can easily pop the muffins in the toaster while you prep all the toppings and they’ll be nice and crispy when you’re ready to assemble.
A big thanks to Morgan Manages Mommyhood for the genius tip!
I prefer to use the air fryer or toaster oven for these muffins. This is the easiest method if you’re making a lot of pizzas.
You can also toast your muffins in a regular toaster or in the stove. If using a conventional oven just be sure to adjust the rack to the top position so the muffins toast quickly.
