Ready for the easiest dip recipe ever??
This Crock Pot chili cheese dip is so simple to whip up, you won’t believe you’ve never thought of it before!
Because it’s just a few ingredients, there are several similar recipes out there, but this one is the best because the Crock Pot keeps the dip warm all through your party.
This recipe works because it’s:
- 3 ingredients. Few ingredients means this dip is affordable and easy. You likely have 2 sitting in your refrigerator or pantry right now!
- Perfect for parties like New Year’s Eve, game day, or family game nights.
- Minimal effort. The Crock Pot does all the work for this recipe, so you just have to get the ingredients going and then enjoy!
Step-by-Step Instructions
PLACE 8 ounces of cream cheese and 15 ounces of canned chili in a small Crock Pot (4.5 quart or less).
COVER and cook on LOW for 1 hour.
AFTER 1 hour, stir to combine the ingredients and turn the Crock Pot to warm.
SPRINKLE the dip with 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and place the lid back on so the cheese melts.
ONCE the cheese has melted, serve immediately.
Recipe Tips and Substitutions
The cook time for this recipe will be a little different based on what type of slow cooker you’re using. Mine is a 4.5 quart Crock Pot that cooks a little slower, so this recipe is usually done in 1 hour on low. The cook time listed in this recipe is a suggestion, so you may need to adjust depending on how your slow cooker cooks.
The dip is best served immediately after the cheese melts. Because there is dairy in this recipe, the dip will form a skin the longer it sits. Condensation will also form on the Crock Pot lid when you cover the dip. If you’re going to keep the dip warm for several hours, just give it a good stir every 30 minutes.
This dip is best served with:
- Tortilla chips
- Fritos Scoops
- Tostitos Scoops
- Potato chips
- Doritos Nacho Cheese chips
- Crackers
Try these substitutions or swaps to make this chili cheese dip with your favorite flavors:
- Use a canned chili without beans or meat.
- Use some leftover homemade chili (like this Cincinnati Chili).
- Try shredded Colby Jack or Pepper Jack cheese instead of cheddar.
- Stir some hot sauce or diced green chiles in to make it spicy.
- Top the dip with chopped green onion, jalapenos, chopped onion, avocado, guacamole, or cilantro.
- Low fat, Neufchatel or one of these cream cheese substitutes

FAQs
This chili dip should be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
To reheat just closely cover the container in the microwave and heat on high for 1 minute.
Yes! If you’d still like to make this dip, you can add the cream cheese and chili to a microwave-safe bowl, cover, and heat on high for 30 seconds at a time until the cream cheese is nicely melted. Top with the cheese and then heat for another 30 seconds.
You can also make this on the stovetop. Add the chili and cream cheese to a medium saucepot and heat over medium to low heat until warmed through. Top with the shredded cheese and turn the heat to the lowest setting to keep warm.
